Only three games were completed last night when the action continued in the Barbados Road Tennis Open 2024  at Dover, Christ Church before rains halted play yet again.

The tennis started promptly at 6:30 pm before a sizeable crowd and in the opening game, Jamar Best cruised past Anderson Harris 21-10, 21-7 inside of 18 minutes.

Next up was the losing finalist of the past two years Shakeem Nurse to do battle with Tavio Norville.

Nurse was barely out of first gear as he comfortably outpointed Norville 21-14, 21-16 within 16 minutes.

Darius “Barrackus” Gaskin then rolled over Suave Clarke 21-17, 21-9, inside of 18 minutes to comfortably win the third game played for the night.

Dario Hinds had won the first game of his match-up with Terry Smith  21-16 and was leading  7-3 in the second when the rains came at 7:58 pm.

After falling heavily for 12 minutes, the rains returned just after 8:30 pm and it was clear that these downpours were too much for the venue to recover safely for the night, and organisers were forced to call it quits for the night.

The tennis action is set to re-start this evening, Thursday August 15, 2024, at 6:30 pm at Dover where organisers are hoping these games can be completed before the start of the round of 32 at Belfield, Black Rock, St. Michael on Saturday night at 7 pm.
