No play was possible on Day Five of the Barbados Road Tennis Open 2024 at Dover Christ Church on Sunday, August 11th.

Play was set to start at 6:30 pm but there were two consultations with players and officials and inspections of the court before play was called off around 8:40 pm.

President of the Road Tennis Officials Association, Chris  Griffith told tennis fans the players were dissatisfied with the wet conditions prevailing around the court, which they deemed unsafe and unfit for play.

Mr. Griffith said as a result of these concerns and discussions with the Chairman of the Barbados Road Tennis Open Planning Committee, Shawn Burke, it was decided that players’ safety is paramount and that the round of 64 would be rescheduled later this week at Dover.

Both ROTA and the BRTO Planning Committee apologised to players and fans for the inconvenienced caused.
